V International Conference of Cultural Psychology

We are glad to invite you to the V International Conference of Cultural Psychology, that will take
place March 26 and 27 2020 at the
Federal University of Bahia. Continuing two decades of theoretical and
empirical elaboration in Cultural Psychology and in dialogue with other
disciplines, the conference will gather scholars to discuss the current and
emerging ideas that can expand our understanding of the human beings.
The conference is organized as part of the project
“Under the sign of poverty: psychosocial and educational dynamics of people in
economical disadvantaged social groups in the perspective of cultural semiotic
psychology”, with financial support by CNPq and PAEP/CAPES, and coordinated by
professor Maria Virginia Dazzani at the Post-graduate Program in Psychology
(PPGPSI), Federal University of Bahia. The conference is organized in
collaboration with visiting professors Pina Marsico and Luca Tateo, with the
International Kitchen Seminar Network and with the International Network Ideas
for the Basic Education of the Future (IBEF).
The main events of the program will be the lectures of
professor Jaan Valsiner, Aalborg University; professor Nandita Chaudary, Lady
Irwin College New Delhi; professor Paul Rhodes, University of Sydney; professor
Tatsuya Sato, Ritsumeikan University, Japan; professor Ana Cecilia Bastos and Marilena Ristum, Federal University of Bahia, Marcelo Faria, Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana, Bahia.
The conference will accept both theoretical and
empirical contributions that present a substantial advancement in the field.
Some non-exhaustive examples of the topic of interest for the conference are:
· Psycho-social
and developmental dynamics of marginalized people, with special focus on people
in disadvantaged social groups
· Theory,
methodology and epistemology of cultural psychology
· Decolonizing
studies in cultural psychology
· Innovative
theories and methodologies for the study of educational contexts
· Transdisciplinary
dialogues with psychology as science of human beings
· Developmental
dynamics in the arenas of human activity: borders, transitions, life-course,
liminality
Participation fees, to be paid at the conference
registration, are:
· R$
20 (US$ 5) for undergraduate students
· R$
50 (US$ 12) for doctoral students
· R$
200 (US$ 43) for professors
Participants are requested to send an abstract of a
single contribution (including all names, affiliation, contact, and
contribution titles with 5 keywords) or a thematic session (5 presenters + 1
discussant, including all names, affiliation, contact, and contribution titles
with 5 keywords) by the new deadline of January 20, 2020 to vconferenceculturalpsychology@gmail.com,
with the subject “Submission to VCCP”. Proposals will be peer-reviewed and
acceptance will be notified by January 30. Proposals should be between 250 and
700 words. The conference official transcultural language will be English, but
presentations can be in any of the Latin American languages (Portuguese,
Spanish, Guaraní, Quechua, etc.), provided that presenters can give English
translation.
